New appointments in Audiologic's industry-leading technical team

01/08/2025

We are delighted to announce that Matt Nettlefold set to take over from the departing Ben Spurgeon as Head of Technical, in what will be an internal appointment, as well as news of a recent addition in the shape of former Biamp and B&W audio engineer, Berk Yucemoz.

Since joining Audiologic over 3 years ago and a successful period within the sales and business development team, Nettlefold will be taking over at the helm of the company’s renowned technical function from the outgoing Ben Spurgeon, who is moving on to launch his own venture – an online platform for AV professionals. Spurgeon has been at the forefront of Audiologic’s technical prowess since joining in 2017, spearheading the company’s reputation as a technically-led distributor, building out the application support team and training function from a one person endeavour to what is now a team of seven.

With the appointment of Nettlefold as his successor, Spurgeon is confident that he is handing over an award-winning team at its peak and into supremely capable hands, with not only proven experience of Audiologic but also from over two decades prior experience in audio, including technical and product management roles.

It’s definitely an emotional moment stepping away from Audiologic after such an amazing 8 years. Looking back to where we started, I can leave being genuinely proud of what we’ve built from a technical offering and am all the more at peace knowing that Matt will be taking the helm. I’m incredibly excited for both my future and for Audiologic’s, and know full well that Matt will continue to move us forwards. I have to give immense thanks to Andy and the entire Audiologic team, it’s been nothing short of life changing!” commented Spurgeon

Matt will be transitioning into the new role over the coming months, working closely with Ben to get up to speed and ensure the handover is seamless, while his role in the sales team will be back-filled.

I’m excited to be taking this next step, it comes at the right moment for me and while sad that we are losing someone of Ben’s calibre, I’m equally optimistic about the future and an opportunity to bring my own experience, approach and mindset to this critically important role at Audiologic.” added Nettlefold.

Managing Director Andy Lewis had this to say, “Ben’s imminent departure leaves big shoes to fill, such is the importance of the technical team to everything we do here at Audiologic; it’s at the heart of our customer value and very much our unique advantage. We’re extraordinarily fortunate that the answer was already in the room – Matt is the perfect person to step into those shoes and take the next stride forward. I’d like to thank Ben for everything he has given to Audiologic and wish him well in his new endeavour… he’ll always be an Audiologician at heart!

Meanwhile, the business has onboarded additional capacity and technical know-how in the shape of Berk Yücemöz who joins in the role of Loudspeaker Applications Engineer, reporting under Anna Shahin, Application Support Manager. The Brighton-based audio engineer has previously worked at Bowers & Wilkins and more recently at Biamp, and brings proven experience in electro-acoustics R&D to an already well-appointed technical team at Audiologic.
