Spring 2026 Tascam Product Updates

09/04/2026

TASCAM has made two significant product announcements today, reinforcing its position across both the professional broadcast recording and portable audio markets. Here's what you need to know.

DA-6400 Now Supports SMPTE ST 2110 for IP Broadcast Workflows

TASCAM has confirmed that its optional IF-ST2110 expansion card is now compatible with the DA-6400 and DA-6400dp 64-track recorder/player, enabling seamless integration into modern IP-based broadcast environments.

The IF-ST2110 card supports the ST 2110-30 and AES67 standards, making it straightforward for broadcasters of all sizes to transition to networked audio infrastructure. With the DA-6400's two expansion slots, the recorder can run the IF-ST2110 card alongside optional MADI and Dante cards simultaneously — meaning it can act as a hybrid recorder and flexible audio format converter, bridging the gap between ST 2110 and legacy Dante/MADI systems.

The enabling firmware update v3.20 is available now from the TASCAM Europe website.

DR-40XP: The Third Generation Handheld Recorder Arrives

TASCAM has also announced the DR-40XP, the latest evolution of its popular DR-40 series of compact four-track audio recorders. The new model brings a host of meaningful improvements over its predecessors.

Most significantly, the DR-40XP records in 32-bit floating-point, offering a professional-grade safety net for spontaneous recordings where gain settings can't always be dialled in ahead of time. The redesigned chassis also features improved condenser microphones with better shielding against radio frequency interference — a practical benefit when recording in environments with nearby smartphones and wireless devices.

On the input side, TASCAM's proprietary HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) preamps on the two XLR/TRS combo inputs now offer selectable input sensitivity and a lower noise floor, with an equivalent input noise of –126 dBu. Other refinements include higher clock accuracy (10 ppm vs. 30 ppm on the previous model), improved built-in speaker quality, and faster recording starts thanks to the removal of record pause mode. The DR-40XP retains the features that made its predecessors so popular: overdub and punch recording, per-track mixing with level, pan and effects, an MS decoder, and USB-C connectivity for use as an audio interface with Windows, Mac, and iOS devices. Battery life reaches up to 30 hours on lithium batteries, and storage can be expanded up to 512 GB via microSDXC.
