Tech Tuesdays: Applying the new Q-SYS Cores

Whether you’re new to QSC or have been specifying them for years, it can be a challenge to understand how a new product fits into a portfolio or application. Today, let’s have a look at some of the ways the new Cores can fit into an eco-system.
Inevitably, we have all seen an AV system that has too many components, too many boxes. This is where the new NV32H Core Capable comes in: video switching, room control, audio and camera processing with USB bridging – all in a single ½ rack width chassis! Simplify and save money by reducing the number of components required for your AV system whilst boasting the power of QSC DSP. Remember, when in Core mode, NV32H becomes an all-in-one powerhouse but does lose the encode/decode peripheral capabilities.
The Core Nano is the perfect addition to any AV over IP solution. Networked microphones, PoE speakers, VoIP: this Core is designed for the fully networked AV system. Like the NV32H Core Capable, this is a great way to simplify and center a system around a networked infrastructure. This enables the entire system to be remotely monitored and managed – which is a great supplement to the recently released Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager, QSC’s remote monitoring platform.
The Core 8Flex shares the same processing power of the Nano: with 64×64 networked channels, of which you can upgrade 32×32 for Software Dante (or simply use the 8×8 Dante included free of charge), plus 8 channels of AEC. Besides the addition of GPIO, the biggest difference between the 8Flex and Nano is that the 8Flex offers eight flexible analogue channels – configurable as either inputs or outputs. This makes the 8Flex the perfect box for a whole range of IO requirements, leaving fixed IO in the past!
