Tech Tuesdays: Wireless Audio Solutions

In last week’s Tech Tuesday, we looked into WiSpeak from Ecler: an audio system allowing for wireless distribution of audio. Especially in installations, cable runs can be difficult to navigate and justify – some spaces are very challenging! WiSpeak only requires mains power and the receiving speakers communicate wirelessly with the Core transmitter – making it a great solution for many installs – but where is it best suited? In the demonstration video we talked about retail and hospitality but understanding how these environments are suited best is the next step. Here are some tips of which installations suit WiSpeak best!

When access is a challenge:

Often, AV isn’t thought of as part of a project until building is complete. This can make ceiling and wall access difficult to achieve! Fortunately, most buildings have sufficient provisions for mains power, allowing active speakers as a simple go-to, but not only are many active speakers not easily adjusted for distribution, they still require signal cabling. WiSpeak receiver loudspeakers only require mains cabling and receive their audio wirelessly using the licence-free 5GHz band, making it simple to use the existing infrastructure on site. Whether the speakers are track mounted to blend in with lighting, are surface mounted, or dotted around using desktop mounting, it’s never been easier to achieve a quality distributed system.

When time is critical:

You may have noticed the “against the clock” section of our WiSpeak video – if you haven’t, give it a watch below! Although only two speakers are used in this video, the process is the same for up to 24 speakers: just plug in the speakers and Core, press the pairing button, and they are passing audio within seconds (70 seconds in our video)! When you have limited time and high expectations on-site, this is a great option.

When space is limited:

Finding new, dedicated locations for loudspeakers can be difficult when a store is planned out inch by inch – aesthetics are very important in these sectors! This is where WiSpeak shines: by utilising existing infrastructure such as track lighting, there is no additional space requirement for this installation besides the compact transmitter unit. Both the Tube and Cube models are designed to snap into place when using track, meaning zero design work is required for WiSpeak installations.

WiSpeak from Ecler is a great solution not only for the above situations, but serves as a great go-to for any setup. With the Grip app (no standalone or network connectivity required!), end-users will love the familiarity and simplicity of mobile control, and the flexibility that always help with installations.
